What I want to say
Finally
Through the interviews and questionnaires, I learned that para-sports is a life worth living for the athletes and that it is important for them to transcend their "disabilities" and become an athlete.
However, para-sports is a sport that cannot be played without people who can support and teach. From the interviews with the players and coaches, I learned that there is a lack of instructors and other supporters because of the need for knowledge of disabilities and that there are few facilities where para-sports can be played. I felt that for para-sports to develop further, the surrounding environment needs to be improved.
In the para-sports experience of wheelchair tennis, it was difficult to operate the wheelchair that the players seemed to move so easily, and it required a lot of physical strength and skill. However, when the rallies continued, I felt a sense of accomplishment and had a lot of fun.
In the Blind Experience, we had a chance to experience visual impairment. By experiencing it once, I was able to think about what kind of information visually impaired people would want to know.
A survey of junior and senior high school students shows that awareness of para-sports itself is still low. However, some of them said that watching the Paralympics was cool and amazing, and their view of challenged people is beginning to change.
We hope that this site will help people become more interested in parasports.
And, we hope that this site will help to change the way people around us look at parasport, little by little, and lead to a symbiotic society where people can live together with various kinds of people.
